Springtails
As the weather gets
warmer we receive a number of calls each year from customers that have minute
bugs that jump when you get close to them. These pests are called
springtails. They are harmless insects that do not bite, spread disease, nor
damage household furnishings. They do not possess wings, are about 1-2mm long
and vary in color. They are generally found
outside but occasionally they enter a house where dampness occurs such as in
basements, cellars, bathrooms and kitchens, especially near drains, leaking
water pipes and sinks. Although these insects
