Baiting/Monitoring Station Installation 1. The first step is a termite inspection. This is
carried out to all areas visually accessible. See The Stewarts Inspection for
more information. 2. Information on previous treatments is obtained. We
also need to know where underground utilities maybe. If a chemical barrier
has been place then the bait station are placed outside this treated zone. 3. The baits are then installed. They are place about
three meters apart around the building in soil areas. If paving and concrete is
up abutting the external walls then the concrete is bored and pavers are
removed to allow the bait to be installed. 4. The Monitoring Stations are then checked every four
months. 5. If activity is present in stations, then the bait is
installed. One thing to note is that there must be a significant amount of
activity before the bait can be place. 6. The active station is then monitored every two to
four weeks depending on the termite species. Below are pictures of the different baits.
Standard Monitor These are for general use
in concrete, soil and paved areas.
Protected Monitor These are used in the
garden or other areas where the monitor is exposed to a lot of water or other
pests the under lid is used to bait black ants that may hinder a termite attack
or other pest like cockroaches. The picture on the right give
a sectional view of the station.
Penetration Monitor These are for internal use
in concrete floors, walls, etc. The can also aid as a reusable inspection
port for a Borascope and baiting work for other
pests. If you would like more
