Warnings on Yearly Boosters Treatments or Top Ups

When a chemical is applied to your home the chemical has a certain lifespan. Therefore the chemical needs to only re-applied when it has broken down or if it has broken down by other factors (i.e. renovations or poor drainage). For a chemical to be reapplied it must always be applied at the same rate (this is as per the label) as the original treatment. You cannot just Top Up the chemical as this is not on the label and the label is what pest control technicians must follow strictly. Chemical must be applied at the full application rate to be effective, if not the penetration and meeting of the chemicals in the soil will not occur giving the client (yourselves) a false sense of security and termites a passage to your house.

Most chemicals have a lifespan of 3-10 years and it is only necessary to carry out an inspection yearly to assess that no breakdown has occurred over the past year and to treat any live termites. Although this is not a health issue it is very misleading as mentioned before it can give you the client a false sense of security.

If you would like more information on chemicals, concentration rates or Barrier Treatments in general please email us or contact us.
