Chlorpyrifos (Dursban)

Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate. It is registered to treat a number of pests in Australia from crop spraying, general pest treatments to termite control. The chemical disrupts the insect’s nervous system by interfering with the enzyme acetylchlolinesterase in the brain. Very similar enzymes are found in the human nervous system and can poison humans through this same mode.
